Do you offer in person therapy?
Yep, I offer both in person and telehealth. Via telehealth I can provide services to anyone in Texas.
Do you take insurance?
Hell, yeah, I am currently only taking Aetna, Evernorth (Cigna), Optum, United Healthcare. Additionally, I offer a sliding scale for private pay clients
How do you approach therapy?
I firmly believe that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to help you uncover new perspectives, deconstruct shame, and embrace an authentic identity that aligns with your values and aspirations.
It is a privilege to walk alongside my clients on their journey to healing, growth, and fulfillment. Mainly I practice from a relational, person-centered approach. As appropriate, I add in a mixture of other modalities including Internal Family Systems, Somatic exercises, DBT skills, family systems, and existential therapy.
Systematic Oppression
Recognizing the systemic oppression embedded in our culture is integral to the healing process, particularly for individuals with marginalized identities. Together, we can explore these challenges and work toward empowerment and healing.
And I name this because wellness is not just about personal journeys. It is woven into the social, political, and cultural context in which we all exist. As a white practitioner in the wellness space, it is my responsibility to challenge the way racism, colonialism, capitalism, and ablism stand in the way of wellness for everybody.
I don’t always get this right, but I am devoted to a lifetime to listening and learning. So please, if I do something to cause harm, let me know.
Land Acknowledgement
I would like to acknowledge that we are meeting on the Indigenous lands of Turtle Island, the ancestral name for what now is called North America. Moreover, I would like to acknowledge the Alabama-Coushatta, Caddo, Carrizo/Comecrudo, Coahuiltecan, Comanche, Kickapoo, Lipan Apache, Tonkawa and Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo, and all the American Indian and Indigenous Peoples and communities who have been or have become a part of these lands and territories in Texas.
What do you do during your time off?
When I’m not in the therapy room, you can often find me hiking with my dogs, playing board games, or digging up fossils as a member of the Austin Paleontological Society. I’m an avid reader, enjoy analyzing movies, and have a deep love for British cozy mysteries.
